What's wrong with Hong Kong young people?

Dear...

...

You're already a part of the lucky group but you should keep striving the best for your future. Now Hong Kong young people really need more motivation or creativity otherwise their future will be very rough ahead. You know what? Only a fraction of teenagers have gained enough confidence or fulfillment upon completing their studies in high school. Even worse some have only frustration or sense of abandonment. When the business was booming they could get hired easily and worried nothing. Now the business is in downturn. Upbeat? no way? The worst is not the economic situation yet the mentality of the young generation.

The education needs reform. Yeah we have some but very little. The major barrier is the teacher. Their traditional way of thinking and the conservative philosophy only benefit the wise and well-disciplined kids. Of course they will turn to be good. Frankly they are self-motivated, like you, have no urgent need of support. They are self-sufficient. No matter how teachers teach them, they are still good. Who need more? Of course the rest. They need more care. Even though they cannot attend college (university), they can help themselves in a positive way, may be learn some skill, make some new business or find alternative opportunities in mainland China. Many don't 'cause they don't have guts. Why they don't have guts? 'cause all gone with the schooling, their teachers, family or parents.

I am not saying that the teachers have no motivation to make education better, but for most of them the way they think the way they do are really outdated. The enthusiasm they might have some in the beginning but losing little by little on their way to a 'professional' teacher. Eventually they take the job as regular duty. Where is the ideal? the conscience? hope for the young? in a far away dream.

That's why I have to take a break. It sucks! excuse me. I know it's not a good way to express my frustration, but it is. Whenever I talk to the senior colleagues about it, answers almost must be something like 'it takes time...'. You know, we don't have much time left. Hong Kong is losing if we don't speed up. I don't want to see the final ending of the tale 'rabbit race with tortoise' will really happen in Hong Kong later.
